Service Pack 2 install problem

Keep getting message "access denied" when installing SP2. Message appears
towards the end of the install process. I disabled virus check program, zone
alarm, threatfire and adaware programs, but still get the same 'access
denied' message toward the end of the install process.

I've searched the web pages to find out what might be causing the problem
and have followed the suggestions, but the problem continues.

Any ideas?

What suggestions have you followed?

Are you currently running WinXP or WinXP SP1 and why didn't you install SP2
4+ years ago?

Just to add...

The most common reasons for failure to install SP2 are:
- malware infections
- older, incompatible drivers

Update your drivers and scan for malware before attempting to install SP2
