Service Pack 2 Help/Error Message

I recently had to re-install my XP operating system on my Dell Dimension
4600. When booting up, I keep getting a Windows Update message saying that
the Service Pack 2 update is ready to be installed. I'll get 20 minutes into
the download when I get an error message saying "Access Denied". Nothing
else. I'll click "ok" and it goes through the removal process of what it
partially completed. I am the admin and the only operator on this pc so I do
not understand what the "Access Denied" message is referring to. Any ideas
why I am getting this error message and should I even bother to install it?
