troubling installing service pack 2

Guest

Hi,
I have a HP omnibook xe4500 and can't install service pack 2 for windows XP
home edition.

During the "backing up files" process of the SP2 installation I get the
following error:

Service Pack 2 Setup could not backup registry key HKCR\.DVR-MS to file
C:\windows\$Ntservicepackuninstall$\reg00013. 5 Access is denied.

And then if I select ignore the installation eventually aborts.

Any advice or ideas on how to resolve this would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Change permissions so that your user account has full permissions to the
\Windows folder and all sub-directories.
