Service Pack 1a

My computer came with Windows XP Service Pack 1 installed on it. I downloaded Service Pack 1a. I didn't know anything at the time about computers and not much more now, but I am trying to learn something new everyday. I do know from reading here that I don't need the SP 1a too. My question is, will it cause any problems to un-install SP 1a? Thank you for you guidance.

If you have it installed leave it.
If you remove SP1a, you remove all the protection it provides.
Effectively SP1 is no longer on your system if SP1a is installed.
There is always a risk with installing or uninstalling anything.

Thank you Jupiter very much for your prompt reply. I'm so glad I got the courage to ask. I've had a very slow boot ever since I downloaded the SP 1a and was about to remove it to see if it would help. I'm so glad I didn't. Thanks again.
