HELP!! Windows Xp Service Pack 1/1a problem

Fawke101

Hi there,

I have a Sony PCV-RS224 Desktop PC running Windows XP Professional.

The problem i am having is when i install service pack 1 or 1a, it knocks
out my USB 2.0 Ports. Basically, anything running on USB doesnt work after
installing SP1 / 1a.
I combatted this by not having SP1 /1a installed and all was fine, until i
bought Office 2003, which requires SP1!!!

I am now left with either no USB ports or a redundant Office installation,
not happy.
Posting to these forums has been my last resort, Sony nor Microsoft
recognise this as a problem and i am left with no other choice.

If there is anyone with a similar problem or is there anyway I can override
the USB drivers with the originals, whilst having SP1 installed please let
me know?
HELP !!!

Thanks so much....

Install SP1 or 1a and then use the device manager to remove
the USB ports , hubs and devices. Unplug the cables for any
USB devices. When you reboot the hubs and ports will be
discovered as "new" and reinstalled with the correct
drivers.
Then plug your devices in, one at a time and let Windows
identify and install their drivers.
