Server Error when publishing...

Hello Everyone -
I'm on Frontpage 2003 and Windows XP Pro. I usually have
no problems publishing, but lately, I'm getting a window
that pops up and says " ! Server Error: Cannot open
file "BROWSERREP.html" for writing"
Now, this doesn't seem to stop the changes I make in
the web from getting through first and publishing before
this window comes up and cancels the rest of the
publishing. But I'd rather get this solved before it gets
away from me if possible. I want to stay clean etc.
The Url - http://www.frankbright.com
Any help is very much appreciated !!
Thanks,...Brightbelt

Is BROWSERREP.html a file w/ you site?
or is it a stat file your host has put on your site?

Hi - Thanks for responding. I think it's a stat file the
host has put on my site and there seeems to be more of
them, because right before this error window happens, I'm
asked if I want to overwrite a list of stat files. I
usually choose yes.
Is this a file I can delete ? Or what do you recommend ?
Thanks for your help,...Brightbelt

I believe BROWSERREP.html is a stats file as well. I had similar problem with one of my sites, only the file name was more obvious (stats.htm). It happened that when I published down everything on the linux server was published down to my local machine, then when I redid the entire local copy and wanted to republish up to the server (entirely new web), linux squealed. I solved my problem with Jimco's Selective Publish add-in which enabled me to NOT PUBLISH the entire stats folder (the local one).

Maybe you have similar problem.

No you probably can't delete it since it's permissions are controlled by the host
When asked select don't overwrite
Contact your host and see if they will convert your stats folder to a subweb

OK,...Thanks for your help. I already have Jimco's "Do
Not Publish" add-in. It's worth a try. Thanks !!

Hey-
I thought I'd follow thru and affirm that selecting "Do
Not Publish" (the Jimco add-in) for the 'Stats' Folder
did the trick and I'm now publishing smoothly again.
Interestingly enough, it did no good to select 'do not
publish' just for the individual file that the error
window happened to display. It merely switched to the
following file in the stat folder for the next error
display. Many Thanks,...Brightbelt
