serious issue

Hi all, I am running windows xp pro sp2 with all latest updates. I am
experiencing a reproducible error where if I try to open a word document on
a file share(mapped drive) my whole machine crashes with the blue screen of
death and then automatically reboots. If I access the same file via network
places and by browsing to the file share then it works fine. Any ideas?
After the machine reboots it asks me to transmit the info to MS and then it
says this was caused due to a device driver issue? Which device driver could
it be?

TIA!

My guess - network card driver. Get it from the manufacturer or OEM
supplier (in the case of an onboard network adaptor).

Rt click on MyDocs>select Properties>Advanced>Startup and
Recovery-Settings>Uncheck Automatically Restart Box.
Next time this happens you may get a blue screen with error message.

It is an onboard controller and I have downloaded the driver from the
motherboard manufacturer's website. I have been experiencing slow network
speeds also. I wonder what is up...
