Separating identities in Outlook

I have 2 separate email addresses that I want to use on my outlook, but I
don't want them to share folders. Whenever I setup the second account, the
email starts downloading into the inbox of the first account. How do I make
it so that each email address uses a separate set of folders?

Thanks,
Ryan

Outlook doesn't really do "identities" very well. You can set up a second
Inbox and use a rule to move emails from one of the accounts to that Inbox
(Outlook 2007 will do this for you when you set up the email account) or you
can set up a second outlook profile for one of the accounts. The only
drawback of that is that you have to close outlook before switching
Profiles.

Thanks a lot. I definitely wish it was possible to set up different
identities.

I set it up with 2 rules. All email to the second address goes to the new
"inbox" folder.

The second rule was to try to get email sent from that address into its own
"sent" folder. But I could only find a way to get it to save a copy into it,
so now I have the sent message in both sent folders. Am I missing something
or is this the only way to do it?

Thanks a lot!!!

Unfortunately, AFAIK, that's the only way....

Are you saying that I could set up Outlook as TWO separate
programs and skip identities? I have plenty of room to do that if
necessary.
I'm pretty sure this is the problem I am having. My tech help set it
up for me so that I can switch identities BUT both email identities go
into one box. The other box receives a copy of the mail for one of the
addresses. My email is getting totally out of control. When I changed
my server it didn't support Eudora email that I had used previously
but I thought that at least since EVERYBODY uses Outlook Express, it
would be much easier to set up. Not true.

Not precisely - you can have two separate PROFILES. They are very similar to
OE Identities except that you can't switch between them without closing

You can use ANY Mail client you like - of course you could continue using
Eudora - who on earth told you that rubbish?

Thanks. I'll ask my tech help about doing this.

It's a fact. I'm in Canada. I changed servers to
Sympatico, high speed operated by Bell. Yes, I called them and was
told that Sympatico doesn't support Eudora. In fact, I believe I even
googled around and got the same information. It doesn't make sense
does it? I'd think Eudora would be able to protest that.

Sympatico not supporting Eudora has no bearing on whether or not it will
work. All it means is they won't help you set it up. Just use the settings
they require for any POP client. While you may have to look for yourself
how to find the setting locations in Eudora, they will work.

What they mean is, that if you have PROBLEMS with your email account and are
using Eudora, then they won't be able to help.
You can still use Eudora as your mail client, there is nothing to stop you.
