Windows XP
I drug my Outlook Express into the SendTo folder, selected Create Shortcut Here.
In Word (97) Outlook Express does not appear in my Send To choices. It used to
be there.

You'd be better off asking in a Word or Office news group.

I doubt that this shortcut could work. The normal adressee in SendTo is
a "Mail Recipient" which points to MAPI-DLLs. If you have lost it, look
in your other SendTo folders (Default User as an example).

Is your OE declared as default mail program ?

And you can look here:

In that link you provided, I added those items to Win.ini. In Word when I
elect
to Send To, Mail Recipient is now there, but it only shows Microsoft
Outlook,
Not Outlook Express, which is my default mail program. I do not use
Outlook.
From that web site, I also looked at regedit and in that referenced section,
I
do not have that subkey called MSMapiApps. Not sure if that applies to my
Word 97 or not.
Thanks.

mmmh...
You said you do not use Outlook, but: is it installed ?
And, by the way: you say your OE is your default mail program; did that
mean, that it's really formally defined in Windows as your default mail
program ?

I go to Add/Remove, Outlook is not there. Yes Windows does show
that OE is my default mail program

MS Outlook will not be seen in Add/Remove.

It is part of MS Office Suite.

Do you have MS Office in Add/Remove?

You can remove Outlook by Change/Remove

I removed Outlook. In OE I selected the Make This My Default, did Apply.
That did not stick. I go back to OE Tools Options... still shows is NOT my
default. 3 tries. In Word, do a Send To Email, it shows Outlook, I say OK,
but of course it can't find Outlook now.

Go to Add/Remove Programs
Select "Set Programs Access and Defaults"
What does it say your default is for email?
Outlook most likely, change to Outlook Express or whatever you want.

Does it work now?

E

Earl Partridge

Did that. It was on Custom. I viewed Microsoft and Non Microsoft, and in
all
3 areas, the Email option shows "Use my current email program". I selected
the Microsoft option, went to OE, did the Make this my default... and it
still
will not stick. Checked again IE | Tools | Internet Options | Programs, and
still
nothing in the Email Program selection to select... it is blank.

Another item of curiosity...
In C:\Documents and Settings\... 4 sub folders, one of my first name, one of
my last name, Administrator, Default User. All 4 sub folders contain a Send
To
folder. I deleted all items in all 4 of those folders. In Word, Send To
continues
to show Mail Recipient, Routing Recipient, Fax Recipient, Exchange Folder,
Microsoft Power Point.
