Sending with Outlook closed

If a user does NOT have Outlook open when he uses IE to send a web page by
email, then the email won't actually be sent at least until he opens
Outlook.

But then in his Sent folder shows that it was "sent" back when he originally
tried to send it from IE. So then the User suspects the delay had something
to do with my Exchange server.

So how can I get that email to actually be sent (i.e., leave the computer)
without having to manually open Outlook?

if he's connecting to the exchange server directly (not cached mode),
opening another message using file, send to and letting the mail windows
open a few min sometimes sends it. Otherwise, he'll need to open outlook so
it will send.

Thanks for responding but no, that solution won't help. First, Outlook IS
running in Exchange CACHED mode.

But more importantly for me is that I want to avoid having to "educate" the
Users. This happens with more than one user. Explaining to them that they
need to actually open Outlook just wouldn't be effective. (And it doesn't
seem to much to ask for an email to actually leave the Computer when you
click "Send" and it ends up showing in the Sent folder that it was sent
then.)

Is the issue related to Outlook being in Exchange cached mode? I'm hoping
to find a configuration change, registry hack or something that will get it
done.

Thanks,
BobK

No, it's not related to Exchange - you need outlook open to actually connect
to the SMTP server and send the email.
