Sending email problem - not stuck, but delayed

Recently, when I send an email, and then, click on Send, the email just sits
there. I often have to click on Send several times before the email actually
leaves my Outbox.

Each Send/Receive completes successfully whether or not the email is sent.
There are never any error messages and eventually the message is sent, but
only after several attempts to send it.

The emails are not stuck in my Outlook, but there is ALWAYS a considerable
delay in sending.

I have a couple of different email addresses. It doesn't matter which
address I use to send from (Hotmail, Gmail, or a university account). I have
to click on Send several times before the email is finally picked up and sent.

This is really bugging me. It is a fairly recent problem, say within the
last few months. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Do you have a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with Outlook?
Uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner and try again; you'd
still be sufficiently protected by your on-access scanner part of the virus
scanner. For more details see;

Thanks! That seems to do the trick. I have NIS2010 installed. I can turn it
off and then the email goes out immediately.

Cheers!
