"send to" menu - missing CD & DVD drives

Tami

Hi,
When I right click on an item, I used to have the ability to "send to" my
CD-ROM/writer (drive D)or my DVD-writer (drive E). That option is now gone.
How can I get it back? (I really liked the option of having my items in a
"ready to burn" folder too... that's gone)

I am running XP Home SP2.
I have Nero Ultra 6 too... but I want my "ready to burn" folder back.

Also, when I go into "properties" of each drive, I no longer have any place
that states "burnable" or "burn to" ... just autoplay, etc.

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Tami

Perhaps the service that controls XP burning has been turned off. Go to
"services" and check "IMAP CD-Burning COM Service" it should be set to
manual, if the status is "stopped" that could well be the problem.

Hi Neil,

Thanks for your help!
I checked and it was set to "manual" but it was blank as to whether it was
"started" or "stopped" so I clicked on "start service." My drives are not
back in the "send to" menu however. Nothing else has changed either.
Should it be on "automatic" or do I have something else going on?

Thanks again,
Tami

Right-click the CD-RW drive, and choose Properties.
In the Recording tab, put a checkmark near "Enable Recording on this drive"

On my system the setting is manual.

If you feel brave or you are familiar with editing the registry, assuming
you don't have the "recording" tab under properties of the drives in
question. (if you have be sure there is a tick in "Enable CD recording on
this drive")

Then try this from MS

best of luck
