I am going to give one of my computers to my parents and was wounding to
install the windows xp home version on that comuter. I have used the same
cd on one of my other computers and was wanting to go to xp pro on that
computer. I have registered the computer with home on it and was wounding
if I put the new pro on the computer and register it if I woul be able to
use the xp home on my parents new computer?

Thank you
Mark

First, stop wounding yourself.

But if you were wondering... you can upgrade the XP Home system to XP Pro Full
version. Since you will be installing the Home version on another PC (for you mom),
you CAN NOT use the XP Pro upgrade version. You MUST use the XP Pro Full product.

After the install of XP Pro full over XP Home, install XP home on you mom's PC.
Activate both PCs. Expect your mom's XP Home install to fail the activation. Simply
perform the phone activation it offers. Explain to the activation technician what you
are doing, and they will be glad to help you out by walking you through a manual
activation.

Do not email me, please use the newsgroup so that everyone benefits.

If the XP Home is an OEM version, that came with a particular computer, it
can not legally be installed, and registered on another computer. Only the
computer it came with.
