new hard drive registeration for xp

I have windows xp and I want to change the hard drive to
a new serial hard drive, but the OS is on the drive. How
can I change the hard drive and get microsoft to
recognize the new hard drive in the xp registeration. In
other words can I just load the xp OS from the original
disc and just call Microsoft to re-register the OS.

Hello

Yes you can, install the new drive win the OS, and then
you could re-connect the old drive and copy your data over
but before proceeding always a good idea to doa backup
