Selective Folder View ?

We have WinXP Prof. SP2 on our 'new' laptop, so we've been
customising it to be similar to our old computer's setup.

Via Windows Explorer's Folder Options, one could apply the
currently-selected folder's view (e.g. Tiles, Thumbnails, Details,
so on) to all folders, or reset all folders back to the default.

What I wanted to know is how to 'apply' the selected folder's
view to all subfolders off this folder and NOT other folders
elsewhere? For instance, I want all folders set to Detail View
but all folders off 'Shared Pictures' (our digital camera's
output files) to Thumbnails view.

Is this possible?

Unfortunately, No. The correct process is to set the View for a
specific folder to your liking. Using Tools, Folder Options,View-
Click apply the view to all. Logoff & back on. Then set those
folders that require alternate views (Thumbnails, Tiles, etc). For
things like Pictures, views do not apply to Child folders - So you'll
have to apply the specific view to each sub-folder.

While in Folder Options make sure the check box for "Remember
Each Folder's view" is enabled.

If you are using SP2, then the BagMRU will retain 5000 folder
views. Personally, I increase that value to greater than 8000+.

Andrew's question is EXACTLY what I am looking for... Mr. McCary's answer is
EXACTLY what I don't want to hear!

There has got to be a way to expidite this process of setting subfolders to
keep the parent folder view without affecting the other folders.

To elaborate, everything under My Pictures would be set to Thumbnail view
and every other folder should keep Details view.

Does anyone know of any 3rd party Apps (like Tweak UI for example) that can
manage folders in this manner?

Thanks.
