So what happens if you use the address from the whatismyip.com site to call

The manual for your router:
http://snipurl.com/16e94
(User Guide)

From the OFFICE computer, you can connect to the router's configuration page
(and change things given you know the username/password for the router..)
(Pages 11 and 12...)

"How to Access the Web-based Utility
----------------------------------------------------
To access the Web-based Utility of the Router, launch Internet Explorer or
Netscape Navigator, and enter the
Router's default IP address, http://192.168.1.1/, in the Address field.
Press the Enter key."

What you need to do now is:

1) Verify (by logging into the Linksys router and checking its
configuration) what its external IP (WAN/Internet) address is.
2) Verify (by logging into the Linksys router and checking its
configuration) that requests to port 3389 are set to forward to
the internal (private) IP address of your office computer.

Page 18 explains how you can use http://www.dyndns.org/ to get a dynamic
domain name assigned and maintained using the router...

Page 25 explains port forwarding...

Page 37 explains how to get your routers' Internet IP address...

NYCNC,

I think what Shenan is trying to get to is:

The SurfBoard modem you got from the cable company is connecting you to
the internet. It has probably been configured to provide one additional
Public IP address which is now assigned to your router.

Your LinkSys router in turn is acting as the DHCP server and
distributing Private IP address to your wireless print server and two
computers.

In order for you to connect remotely, you're going to need to find out
what Public IP address has been assigned to the LinkSys router. I
believe Shenan gave you the page numbers in the manual for navigating
to the correct page.

Once you have that IP address, try connecting to from your home. It
sounds as it everything else has been configured.
