Is it possible to highlight text within a text file or web page that is
not continuous? For instance, if I wish to highlight the first
paragraph and the fourth paragraph for either printing the selections or
merely highlighting them to show someone else relevant information.
Thanks.

Yes. Highlight the first paragarph. Then hold down the Control key. I use my left one but it doesn't matter. Hold it down. Now bring the mouse to the fourth paragraph. While holding down the control key drag through the fourth paragraph. Now lift you left finger on the mouse lift your finger from the control key. With the mouse pointer still over some of the highlighted text right-click choose copy. Now you can paste that where you need it. The entire selection is in your Notebook.

Just hold down the Ctrl key while you are marking the text

Evidently Internet Explorer isn't Windows-compliant. I am shocked.

It's not that Internet Explorer isn't Windows-compliant, you can't do what I
want in any Windows application that I have.

It seems that you're right. I tried several application where I thought
it should work, and it does not. Evidently the control-click mechanism
works only in list boxes.
