Seeking Recovery Console

Have an OEM version of Wxp. Found winnt32.exe on the recovery disk and ran it
as winnt32.exe /cmdcons to add the console to the boot menu but the message
below appeared.

Can not find Winntupg\netupgrd.dll

Search the CD and the partition but found neither the folder nor the DLL file.

Hi,

Some files were missing. It was suggested to update the files. Please refer
to Paul Thurrott website. The explanation with illustration was very clear.

1. Copy contents of Windows XP CD-ROM to local hard drive (C:\xp)
2. Download Windows XP SP2 (WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe)from MS website.
Save it to local hard disk (C:\sp2)
3. In Command Prompt, type
cd \
cd sp2
WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe -x:c:\sp2

cd i386
cd update
update -s:c:\xp

cd \
c:\xp\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons

Hi b11,

1. When the file was searched, in the More advanced options, were the
options 'Search system folders' and 'Search hidden files and folders'
selected?

2. Please try to find in C:\WINDOWS\I386\WINNTUPG

I opened folder options and selected unhide for 2 different options. Then
searched for WINNTUPG but did not find it. I also seared the Recovery disk
that came with the computer but did not find it. Thanks Simon for you help.
