Security warning during email reading

When I use Microsoft Win XP Pro, Outlook 2002, SBC DSL connection for one
year with this problem.

But suddenly today, when I tried to read incoming email, I got this dialog
panel:

Internet Security Warning:

The Server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could
not be verified.

A Certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is
not trusted by the trust provider.

Do you want to continue using the server?

[yes] [no]

What is the problem and what is going on? How do I resolve this? Thank you.

Call SBC and ask them how you do you go about getting the SMTP certificate
or root certificate installed on your machine in order to get the dialog to
stop. (This probably started since changing the SMTP server settings in
Outlook. SBC now requires users to check the SSL box and supply a
userid/password in order to send mail. Outlook is saying that it doesn't
trust the certificate and asking for your permission to continue. You will
see this dialog each time you start Outlook until SBC informs users how to
get the root certificate installed.)

Now that I read this... I said this very poorly and you may be thinking huh?

Call SBC and ask them how do you get the certificate trusted or installed on
your computer since Microsoft Outlook does not offer any dialog to do it for
you.

Try unchecking the "This server requires an SSL connection" on the SMTP
server properties. (SBC Help pages in setting up the mail client does say
this, but it is easy to miss the way they have it.)
