Security updates & Hotmail

XP SP2 - working well. Almost new laptop, 1GB memory, plenty disc space.
Completed 17 critical updates from Windows Update - restarted - all ok.
Able to access most sites ok.
But Hotmail will not load - quickly repeating messages in status line at
bottom of screen 'waiting for .....' various addresses but mainly
.....\mail\mail.asp
Have waited several minutes on several occasions. Unable to close window so
have to use CtrlAltDel and end the task.
Have deleted temp files, restarted system, etc.

Any suggestions?

Try a different browser to see whether it's an IE problem, or a firewall
or anti-spyware problem.

Try changing IE security settings and firewall settings.

Hotmail works fine in Mozilla so it is a IE problem.
Varying the security level in IE does not help.

I would check individual security settings, clear the cache, lower the
cache size if it's 1GB, Look in the blocked sites list. I don't have
IE7 and can't tell you exactly where to look for these.
