Why does this update keep installing?
Has repeated this 5 times in the last week.

Ian,

I'm guessing it's because this fix for the powerpoint viewer is not
installing correctly.

cheers

MS tries to update Office 2003's Power Point Viewer with this security update
and it fails every day. Anything I can do about it?
Thanks,
Keith

I have no answer for why KB969615 will not install, BUT.......
Why fuss around ?
Why not remove 2003 and install MS Office PowerPoint Viewer 2007 ?

A wild guess ..... the " installer " on MS Office 2003 had been
removed/deleted or corrupted, hence any subsequent install will be invalid.
Go to Start menu > type wdviewer.exe in the search box, see if it shows up
at the top.

wdviewer.exe did not show up from the search you suggest. Should it have?
Do I need to find it somewhere & download it? Any idea where I can find it?
Thanks for your help,
Keith

I don't know for sure as I have both, but .......
If you read the 2 links I gave you :
( A ) 2003 powerpoint viewer link says :
This download works with presentations created in the following Office
programs:
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
Microsoft PowerPoint 97

( B ) 2007 powerpoint viewer link says :
This download works with presentations created in the following Microsoft
Office programs:
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
Microsoft PowerPoint 97

So, I assume the answer is no.

I am probably misleading you by not being clear in what I had said.
If you save your 2007 presentations in pps formats instead of ppsx and pptx
formats, 2003 powerpoint viewer will have no problem.
Hope I have it straightened out.

Do you have the 2003 PowerPoint viewer installed on your system? I believe
this one has to do with the 2003 viewer. You could try uninstalling and then
reinstalling the 2003 viewer again.
