Security Update KB834707 fails install

After installing Security Update KB834707. the Windows Update site confirms
that the installation was successfull (3 times) however, the same site
confirms each time when checked, that the same security patch should be
installed. When I boot my computer, a message appears: "windows can not
convert file #1 from file #2", and Windows seems to work without problems
after booting is completed. Has anyone encountered the same problem and found
a solution? Any help will be appreciated. I run Windows Millenium Edition and
have never encountered problems before when installing security updates.

Sounds identical to the problem I have. My system is also ME. I tried the
information from http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=283069 which had
apparently fixed a similar problem on the previous Security Update kb833989.
Didn't work this time. I have an inquiry posted on this discussion group
someplace...I haven't found it yet. Have an old post on the other IE
Discussion group without any replies.

Thanks for your reply. I have not as yet found a solution either. My computer
guru is now working on the problem - so far without succes. Will let you know
if anything comes out of it.
