When I go to a secure site (bank, insurance, etc) I get a
box called Security Alert. I'm told with a "!" in a
caution triangle that the security certificate for this
site is not current or has expired. Whe I chose to down
load a certificate the date is current, not expired. I do
the download and get a box that says it has been
successfully installed. But, next time I go to the site I
get the same thing again. I have installed the cert to
different locations I'm given to select from. Same
thing. I have to select "yes", to proceed, several times
before the security alert goes away and I can continue to
the site. Whaz up? How do I get this right? XP Home
SP1 IE6 I have posted this twice in the last month, no
help. Is there someone out there for me? Thanks, Phil

Was the site well known? You usually don't need to down load the cert
explicitly when you access a secure site. And the secure site shouldn't have
an expired cert. It sounds suspcious.

Robert, Not only are these sites well known but I have
been using them for several years without any problems.
Have never seen this box before this year. It just
started happening! Thanks for interest Robert. Any
more? Phil

I tried this on my XP Pro. The two certs on the site look good. I will get
back to you later. Just make sure the repro clear,

1. You visited the sites before.
2. You visited later, and got the warning saying the cert was expired.
3. You had the choice to down load the certs. And given a store list to save
the certs.
4. You were asked again later.

Robert, The security alert refers to the cert of the
site. The verisign site you refer to sounds like it
addresses a server issue as opposed to an indidvdual, as
me. Right? This problem did start around Jan 04. Tried
again, no change. Download, install with Wizard, says
successful installation, but no change. Thanks for
hanging with me on this. Phil
