Question

This is what I get (pop up) when going to my bank site as well as a few
others.

Security Alert!

Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed. However, there is
a problem with the site's Security Certificate.
green checkmark< The Security Certificate is from a trusted certifying authority.
A yellow check mark with an exclamation point in a triangle< The Security Certificate has expired or is not yet valid.

<green checkmark<The Security Certificate has a valid name matching the name
of the page you are trying to view.

Do you want to proceed?

Yes---No---view certificate

I have Adaware & Spy Sweeper & Norton Anti-virus with Windows XP All updates
are installed

I have run full scans and everything is clean now but still prompts the
Security Warning. Is there a way to turn this off or am I in trouble with
some form of intrusion? We have a second computer similar to this one and do
not receive these warning when visiting the sites that are affected.

Any help in greatly appreciated. Thanks, Deek

Hello Andrew. I followed instructions and it was already unchecked and
still
prompts the certificate.

Deekster,

Call your bank and tell them about it. That's the fastest way you'll get
this worked out.

Since you are seeing it on more than a few sites I would double check the
time setting on your computer and check it for correct day/month/year. If
your time is ahead too much your operating system will think that the
certificate is not expired or if it is behind it may think it is not valid
yet. If the certificates are not shown as trusted your operating system may
be missing some trusted root Certificate Authority certificates as shown in
tools/internet options/content/certificates/trusted root CAs. It may help to
compare the list to another computer. If you find some missing you cam
export the certificates to a .cer file from one computer and import them
into another.

Thanks to all who gave info. Steven! How in the world did you know to check
the day/month/year? For whatever reason it was showing July 29th 2006. How it
got there I don't know but now it is gone. Nice call. The tech's at HP
haven't been able to get it for 2 days. So simple in one respect but I never
would have noticed until I accidently came across it. It was driving me
crazy. Thanks a million, Deek

Glad it worked. I have worked with certificates enough to always check the
system time when such problems occur. FYI in day and time properties you can
select internet time so that your computer periodically sets it's time
according to an internet time server which is what I do.
