Security certificate is not valid

IE Explorer 6. When I try to use sites like Amazon I keep
getting a security alert: "The security certificate has
expired or is not yet valid" I try to view and install the
certificate, but this makes no difference. Eventually
IExplorer always ends up failing to respond and/or
freezing. How can I prevent this security alert from
appearing and freezing everything? It's driving me nuts
and I can't use the web sites I need to!
