Security Centre can't find anti-virus prog

I've got Windows XP home edition and service pack 2. When I reboot the
computer Security Centre warns me it can't find an anti-virus programme.

Security Centre is mistaken, since I have AVG Anti-Virus, it is
up-to-date and it is working.

Any way I can tell it where to look for the programme or (not my
preferred option) disable the warning? I suspect the problem may be
that the Security Centre runs its checks before AVG starts, but if this
is the case I have no idea how to remedy the situation.
