Sections and Odd/Even Headers -Help!!

Okay, folks. I'm a pretty adept Word user (a trainer for goodness sake!) -
very familiar with the age old frustrations with the Same As Previous link
when using section breaks and header/footers.

However, I've got a conundrum on my hands. Got a document with three
sections (so far!). First section needs needs a different header on odd/even
pages. Second section needs to have one header - same on every page in the
center (i.e. a normal header!). Third section needs different odd/even
headers again. I swear I have set my page setups correctly and have turned
off the Same As Previous linking each time. Yet, every single time I go to
the second section and take off the odd/even header for that section - it
switches section one to be a regular header again and won't let me have
odd/even! I am about to lose my mind.

Can you not have odd/even set forjust one or two sections in a document??

Any thoughts? Advice?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Elf

Yes, you can have numerous sections each with unique header situations. When
removing the "same as previous" be sure and start at the end of the document
and move backwards to the section 1. Headers are so annoying I don't know if
I am hallucinating but I have noticed when deleting sections that the
previous section takes on the headers of the section after it, thus the
reasoning for going backwards.

Okay - I'll try the "backwards" route and let you know how it goes. I'm
usually the one calming other folks down with the Header/Footer frustrations!

No luck with the backwards route. It still keeps changing to match other
sections. I just don't understand it. Argh.

Unlike "Different first page," "Different odd and even" is a per-document
(rather than per-section) setting. You'll just have to create two identical
headers for Section 2. For more, see

Thanks, Suzanne. That was the exact way I was "getting around" the problem.
But, having the clarification that I'm not completely insane makes me feel
much better now.

FWIW, when you choose "Different odd and even," Word assumes you're
duplexing, and a lot of the way the document behaves from then on will
change (for the entire document).
