Secondary Vid card shows up?

D

Derek

My system:

Win XP SP1
AMD 1.2 Ghz T-Bird
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe pcb 1.04
512 Megs RAM
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro

Upon installing v3.2, v3.4 or 3.5 Catalyst drivers I get a secondary card
detected under Device Manager . The issue also shows up under Display
properties as a 2nd monitor. I have since disabled the secondary card. So
everything is abnormal, but good.

Why does the driver detect a second card?

Also

Under Device Manager my "Enabled" card's location is listed as PCI bus 3,
device 0, function 0.

Is this normal? I would think XP would detect the card in the AGP slot.

Any help is appreciated

The 9500Pro has 2 video controllers on card.
You can use vga (crt) and and an LCD (dvi plug) or
2 crt's at the same time (dvi to crt adaptor) which
is what I use (2 17" monitors). You won't go back!
(extended desktop...very useful)

Or vga (crt), lcd (dvi) and a TV output all at once.
It's in the manual with your card, and right clicking
on desktop (properties > settings) you will see 2
clickable boxes to change refresh rates and screen
modes for either monitor or monitor/tv. works well.

Thanks for clearing this up. I thought it was something like this, but
wanted to be sure.
