Search Windows Explorer error

Hi all,

I am using SP2 with XP Pro.

When I use the Start(button)>Search option and attempt to open the
search window I get an error:

"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry fro the inconveniece."

This dialog has the "Send error report", "Don't send" buttons at the
bottom.

It seems this problem came up from one day to the next. I have installed
some software on this PC, but it also has automatically updated, so I
am not sure what could be the cause of this problem. Has any one else
seen something similar? Any recommendations are welcomed.

Once the error clear all Windows Explorer windows are closed.

I have not been able to recreate this problem. Once it happens and I
reopen the Search Window Explorer all seems to work fine. I have tried
open the Search Window without havinh any other explorer windows
open, while having only open local resource Explorer windows, while
havin network mapped drives and while having open these two types
of Windows Explorer windows open plus UNC resources open also.

I still need to do more tests, like loggin out and back in and
attempting
to open the Search window.

Thank you for your time.

I have the exact same problem, on 4 PC's here. When you drag the error window
to the corner of your screen, you can still use the search windows; it works
fine. When you click on "Send error report" the window closes, as well as the
search window. The taskbar disappears 5 secs then returns.

Is there a fix available for this?
