Search Companion broke/ can't fix.

I recently installed WinXP Corporate on an older PC that
formerly had win98. Since than I've updated with Service
Pack1 and about a half dozen asst'd security updates.
I've also loaded Norton System Works 2004. After the last
few updates my Search Companion quit working. It says "a
file required to run Search Companion is missing, please
run setup." I can't run setup again, it takes too many
hours to re-do all this stuff. I could use the "browse
CD" option on the Install CD, (which I have) but, I don't
know what I'm looking for. The Microsoft Support Site
says that running SP1 fixes this problem but, I've
already installed SP1. They also offer running
Q319949_WXP_SP1_x86_ENU.exe as a solution but I
downloaded it and ran it and it said it couldn't install
because I "already" had SP1 installed. So now I'm
completely STUCK. Can anyone shed some light. dave c
