SDI Image Size

If I use SDI for deploying an image to target, is the SDI file the same size
as the partition it was created from? The protected system partition is 5 GB
but the actual image is only 300 MG. Is the SDI file going to be 5GB?

I'd like to create a bootable CD and put the SDI image file on it for
delpoying. is this doable?
