Hi all,
I'm having trouble with Win2000 IE v.6.0.28
Can't seem to access web or email using AT&T dial-up anymore. Getting
message saying "Problem running scvhvst.exe."

Anyone know anything about this file? Are there any recent viruses related
to this file?

Thanks everyone,
Michael

SCVHOST.EXE is an infector !

Sure sign of a Gaobot worm variant

W32/Gaobot.worm.gen -- http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_100785.htm

Try the following first...

1) Download the following two items...

Trend Sysclean Package
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/dcs.asp

Latest Trend signature files.
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/pattern.asp

Create a directory.
On drive "C:\"
(e.g., "c:\New Folder")
or the desktop
(e.g., "C:\Documents and Settings\lipman\Desktop\New Folder")

Download SYSCLEAN.COM and place it in that directory.
Download the signature files (pattern files) by obtaining the ZIP file.
For example; lpt321.zip

Extract the contents of the ZIP file and place the contents in the same directory as
SYSCLEAN.COM.

2) Reboot your PC into Safe Mode and shutdown as many applications as possible
3) Using the Trend Sysclean utility, perform a Full Scan of your platform and
clean/delete any infectors found
4) Restart your PC and perform a "final" Full Scan of your platform

If that does not find and erradicate the Gaobot, email me and I can provide you with a
scanner which will. Due to licensing issues, I can't post the information in public. Just
remove ~nospam~.

* * * Please report back your results * * *
