scrolling too fast

I am working on a long document and when I attempt to copy
and paste, I end up copying the entire document from where
I started copying. The vertical scrolling is just too
fast. Is there a way to slow it down?

Mel:

You'll have more control if you don't use vertical
scrolling at all. Either:

1. Click where you want the copying to begin, then click
at the end of the section to be copied while holding down
the Shift key.

--or--

2. Hold the Shift key down and use your four cursor keys
to highlight what you want to copy or cut.

This may work for copying but what about autoscrolling.
My autoscroll scrolls much too quickly to enable me to
read a document. In other applications however, I can
read documents I scroll through. Is there a registry
setting or something that eable one to slow the initial
scroll rate?
