Screensaver not starting

(Win XP Pro) I cannot get my screensaver to start after the wait time has
elapsed. Maybe it has something to do with my new Canon printer. If the
problem started before that I did not notice the problem until recently.

Have you tried disabling the screen saver, rebooting, and then resetting it?
Sometimes toggling between settings will clear a minor glitch.

This is usually caused by a wireless mouse, but I guess other devices
could cause it too, especially wireless devices. Is the printer wireless?

Here's a thread I found with a Google search that discusses many issues:

http://sillydog.org/forum/sdt_9511.php

It suggests, among other things, disabling programs, such as
pcmservice.exe till you find which program is preventing the screen
saver. You might use Process Explorer to see what program is causing
the problem.

Good luck! I'll be watching this post to see what (if any) solutions crop
up. I've tried the whole gamut of suggested fixes when I posted this same
problem quite some time ago. My screensaver works sporadically- some days it
works as it should, other days it may or may not be on vacation. I've
uninstalled my wireless mouse and software and hooked up a wired mouse; no
joy. I've never had pcmservice.exe or any Cyberlink program installed, so
that wasn't it. There were other, too-numerous-to-list suggestions that I
tried also. I went ahead and hooked my wireless mouse back up since that
obviously wasn't the problem.

I downloaded and installed Saver Starter
http://www.brianapps.net/saverstarter/ and when I leave my desk I just move
my cursor to the upper left corner of the screen and the Windows screensaver
starts. Works for me!

Download and install the latest MS update (KB911895). Seems to have fixed it
on my PC (so far).

Thank goodness I qualified that with 'so far.' It worked for a week; now
it's back to its old ways.

It's more likely that you have a wireless mouse or keyboard. The
constant polling by some models (speculation on my part), cause the
screen saver to see this as activity.

As stated in my earlier reply to the OP, it made no difference. Besides,
this update is supposed to take care of that problem, but it didn't.
