Screensaver Closes Open Programs

I've searched everywhere on this issue and can't seem to find anything other
than XP Pro having the option for security like at a place of business.

XP Home, any screensaver whether aftermarket versions or OEM versions. Once
the screensaver activates whether by preview or time limit, whatever program
is on top or active will close as if pressing the "X".

This doesn't happen when the monitor is turned off by using the power
options function.

No viruses/malware that I am aware of.

I've already gone the search route with Google. All that it refers to is
sometimes a Logitec Wireless Mouse OR XP Pro that has the security feature
installed that when a user walks away from their computer and the screensaver
starts, it will close the last active program or window when the screensaver
is deactivated. This keeps non-users from seeing what was last active and
from completely logging off.

My issue is none of the above. Wired usb mouse and keyboard. XP Home version
not Pro. And this issue just started happening without installing any
programs. I've also done a complete virus/malware/spyware scan.

memory may be the
culprit and or your
virtual memory.

as an experiment you
can run a freeware called
fastdefrag.

before the screensaver
launches, open fastdefrag
and run it to flush out the
unused processes / dll's
that haven't been properly
unloaded.

then close fast defrag
and wait to see what the
screensaver does.

hummmmm, didn't think of that. It my parents computer and they run the new
f-secure anti-virus (free with internet service). It requires 256mb of memory
to which they only have 256mb of memory. I just purchased new memory for
everyone's computers last week so once it comes in, i'll check that out.

Just as a side note, you are the first person to reply to my question. I've
posted it everywhere and you are the first. Thank You very much for helping
out.

you're welcome.

768 for a minimum
is what I recommend;

because 256 is the
minimum to run one
program, i.e. windows.

not sure why anyone
else hadn't responded
to your question.

perhaps, due to their
intellectual superiority
complex's,

issues with screensavers
are left for people like us : )
