Screen saver disabled by wireless mouse

Everytime I plug in my wireless mouse, the screen saver doesn't work. I have
a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000. When I unplug the mouse
from the USB port the screen saver will activate after the set time has
elapsed. However, if the mouse is plugged in the screen saver wont start. I
am using Windows XP Professional version on a Gateway MX6955 notebook. Any
suggestions??

I am having the same trouble with my screen saver. I have a Wireless
Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 which could be causing the problems you talk about.
However, I tried to follow all the steps that you listed below, however I
was unsuccessful. I don't have the items under my start up tab that they
speak about (ehtray, DVDPower, etc.) Therefore, the suggestions and
explaination from MS are not helpful.

Any other suggestions? I'm frustrated and in need of help.

I gave up on doing anything. If I leave my laptop on when I walk away, I
just unplug the USB adapter from it. The screen saver works, end of story.
It was the simplest solution. I decided that trying all the other
troubleshooting techniques ran a greater risk than just unplugging while I
wasn't using it.
