Screen running/ flickering (like a TV)

Hey

My labtop screen is running. I am not sure what the problem is because I
haven't caused any physical damage to it and I haven't installed/downloaded
any new programs.

The screens runs (flickers) from the login screen. I can get it to stop
momentarily by pressing the sides of the screen or touching the screen itself
(it doubles as a tablet). Eventually the screen stops (usually whenever it
wants to), but it can start up again randomly.

I think that this might be a physical problem but I really dont know much
about computers

I'm not sure if this if helpful but I have

Windows XP Professional Tablet Editon
Version 5.1

If there's anybody that can help me fix this myself (or if I need the help
of a professional) that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

FYI, there is a Tablet PC newsgroup:

Sounds like this is a hardware problem.

Yep sounds like it's f*cked.

Not many monitor last longer than 20 years.
Time to invest in a new one.

Phone caller: Hey Lady, is your refrigirator running right now?

Lady: Why yes.

Phone caller: Well, you better go catch it then!

(from his posts title and more)

Very bad joke anyway, and it's older than I am.
