screen resolution

On a Windows XP machine I want to set the default screen resoltuion to 800 x
600. Everytime I go into the settings and change it. When I restart my
computer, it goes back to 1024 x 768. Do I change that in the registry to
default the settings to 800 x 600? If so, where? I need that resolution
because I am connected to a VGA monitor as well.
Thank you,
Mike

What is the type of monitor that is reverting to 1024x768? Is it
a flat-screen LCD monitor whose default resolution is 1024x768?
If impossible to change the default resolution of the LCD monitor
to 800x600, then consider using a second video card for the CRT
(or VGA) monitor.

Perhaps you need a specific dual monitor vid.card. The type that allows you
to set different resolutions for each display.
I have a dual setup and can configure each monitor as I wish
