screen goes blank the comes back

My screen goes blank when I bootup, then after awhile
everything is ok. I was told it could be the video card
but I believe is more of a hibernation problem adjustment.
Any suggestions?

sounds like a video card (or monitor) problem to me.

I have seen something similar on another computer. Removing the video
card and re-seating it solved the problem. I think that over time the
contacts between the card and the AGP slot loose their connectivity. I
would try re-seating the card.
