Screen goes black during video playback. Restart is the only possible way out...

Hi there,
i have been experiencing some serious problems during video playback on
my pc.
I have posted elsewhere without any help and looked all over the
internet without finding anything to help me... maybe someone here can
help.

Problem:
During video playback (fullscreen) my screen (EIZO S2410W) just goes
black for no reason. I cannot do anything since the screen doesnt
display anything but black, yet i should mention that i do not get any
kind of error message what so ever. Also the OS continues working fine,
and if i hit my space key to pause video for example the video stops
(you can tell by the sound stopping, obviously i cannot tell by the
picture since its black).

I have no idea what this is and how to fix it, i would hate to have to
reinstall Win XP Pro all over again.

Also i believe this is source and player independant since this happens
quite regularly and i have tried various formats and players: DVDs
..mpg, .mpeg2 .asf .avi (DivX. Xvid etc..) it happens with any format.
So far i have tried the players: VLC (0.8.5), PowerDVD 6, Windows Media
Player.

In case this is needed i ll write down my PC configuration:

AMD64 x2 3800+ (dualcore)
2GB Ram (2x 1GB Corsair TwinX)
Asus Geforce 7800 GTX (ForceWare 91.31)
2x Samsung 200GB HD in Raid0 over Sata connection.
Asus A8N-Sli Deluxe Mainboard.
Eizo S2410W Screen, 24" widescreen
Win Xp pro.

If you have ANY idea what this could be and how i can fix this dont
hesitate to post, i am desperate for a solution to this problem..

kind regards and thanks in advance.

What happens when you're *not* in full-screen mode?
