Screen goes black and computer does not respond to any keyboard commands...

This happens at the welcome screen after I click on a user and enter password[or no password] and wait of the profile to load but the screen immediately goes blank and the computer is unresponsive, even to ctrl+alt+delete. I have to turn off the computer and turn it on again. This just started a week ago. How do I fix this?
 
I havn't run across this problem as-of-yet but boot in
safe mode, (press F8 when your computer is starting, then
select safe mode.) and try running
Start>Run "Sfc /scannow" or using anti-viral software to
scan your system.

p.s. If taht fails boot fromy our cd and repair use the
repair windows option.
