Black screen

When I start my computer the boot screen comes on, loads, and then just goes
to a black screen. It freezes on this black screen. I have ran a repair
install and this does not help. I have also tried to run recovery console,
but when I am prompted to enter the administrator password it will not accept
my password, which I am positive is correct. I also cannot enter safe mode.
When trying to enter safe mode the computer lists multiple files. The last
file listed is:
multi(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\agp440.sys. The
computer then freezes on this screen. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think that you must reinstal graphics card driver, but you have problem
with boot. Did you tray the Last good configuration... etc?

None of the boot modes will work. The computer was not working previously,
and I ran a repair install to replace a missing driver. The driver was
replaced, and now it gets past the boot screen (which it would not get to
before), but after the boot screen it just freezes on the black screen.

My previous problem is described in a thread on page 3 of this newsgroup. It
is in the thread "Missing Ntfs.sys...". It's the only thread with 8 posts.
