Screen freeze soon after computer start and Kernel page error mess

I'm having two problems lately with my computer. The first is, the past
couple of days after I boot up, the computer will run a little slowly, then
suddenly it will freeze. I'm still able to use the keyboard, but my mouse
arrow disappears and I'm unable to use the mouse any longer.

The second problem is something called a Kernel_page_32 error (I'm not 100%
certain I have the exact error message.) I'm not sure, first, what that is
and what can I do to fix that. I will turn my computer off, then when it
reboots it says the computer had recovered from a serious error.

I've run AVG, Spybot, and Ad-ware and all come up clean. I've also checked
my C drive for any errors and that's come up clean. I've even defragmented
my C drive and, while it did make the computer run a little faster for a
while, it's starting running slow again.

I have Windows XP and Firefox on my computer, as well as the Firefox ad
block and the script blocker.

I hope someone can help me, because I have reached the end of my limited
knowledge about computers. Thanks!
