Hello everybody;
I was looking for a website that could help me with this problem:
I have a Toshiba Satellite P35-S611 and until couple of days ago it was working perfectly but suddenly, one side of the screen which is a 17" turned white, then black, then flickery. I read on the we that it could be the FL inverter or maybe something behind the LCD. Does anyone has any ideas of what could it be wrong? I can still use the laptop, but not the full screen. By the way, the side that has the problem hasn't increased, it's the same size.
If this helps, I hooked an external monitor and the image was perfect, it displayed full image. Please, if someone knows what is going on with the LCD, let me know!!

Many Thanks in advance!!!!! :confused:

Try this. It may sound weird but it could work. Take a drill, and magnites. Tape the magnites to the end of the dril and move it infront of the screen. It will make the screen move around and you wil get it back in place.

Demagnetise the monitor. Or take it to a TV repair shop and they will do it for you.

You can't degauss an LCD/TFT monitor. :rolleyes:

Degaussing is to reallign the magnetic field on a CRT. An LCD has no such field.

Replace the monitor ... even laptops have spares you can buy. ;)

Thank you guys for your info. I will try your methods and see what happens. I heard that the connector to the LCD sometimes goes bad, what do you think? I don't want to buy a new screen because they are a little expensive....Any other suggestions?

Cheers!!!

As muck's has said earlier you can not Degauss an lcd tft panel, it could be the invertor, but is very probably the panel that is knackered, sounds like it's taken a small knock.

Take it to a professional to have the panel replaced, if you have to ask here then you do not have the neccesarry expertise to strip down and replace the panel yourself..

Good luck...

If the connector goes 'bad' then the screen usually goes a magenta/purply colour and would flicker alot.
Best bet is to do what Crazylegs and muckshifter said, take it to a professional :)

no crakcs

I see what you're saying, but the laptop has no cracks or it hasn't been dropped. The bad side sometimes changes from blank to bluish, to flickering. Does anybody knows where to get a fairly cheap invertor or a screen?

Cheers!!
