Hi wonder if you could help. My daughter's laptop (Toshiba Satellite 17inch - about 4 years old) was dropped from a height of 1 inch.... since then the screen has gone very "faded". The computer works, but really the screen makes it virtually useless.

Is this an easily fixable problem?
Is it an expensive problem?
Would it be worth purchasing a new one? This one cost around £300 4 years ago (it does have a webcam though)

more expense NOT required post Christmas :):D

Borderline case as to whether it's worth repairing or not.

The screen can be replaced, find a local repair place that fixes laptops, get a quote then decide whether it's worth repairing, bearing in mind it's age..

The majority of new computers on the market at the moment will have a webcam & Windows 7, and a perfectly good budget laptop can be had for around £300. Good selection here. Toshiba and Asus are good makes to consider.
