Screen build loop from SP 2

From install of SP 2 on XP pro system -- stuck in non VGA and programms
looping.
Csrss.exe 40%, three + copies of regscr32 and svchust running all time.
I can't get controll to remove SP2. Same problem in Safe mode.
"R" repair from CD boot no help.
Ideas?

Went there. Things got worse. No taskbar. Even Safe mode no taskbar.
Could not get Taskbar repair from Internet, other machine does not have CD
burnner.
Gave up and did full reinstall. I will look to see of the .LOG files are
still there.
