scheduled tasks

i can't get my scheduled tasks to run.i get a error message( 0x80041315 task
scheduler is not running).i checked my services and is on automatic.please
help.

I understand it's set to Automatic, but is the service running?

Check this:

Task Scheduler Service Must Be Started with System Account:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223170

Note that the "Allow Service to Interact with Desktop" is unchecked (by default) in my XP systems here.

i tried service to interact with desktop and i get a error message( 1717
interface unknown). also the system says that it is running.but the progams i
have for the task scheduler(defrag,mcaffe virus scan) aren't running.
