task scheduler

In XP I have an application that uses MS Task Scheduler. When I try to
schedule a task it says "MS Scheduler is not activated". When I go to the
Scheduled Task window and select from the list, properties, I get an error
message "General page initialization failed.The specific error is 0x80041315:
The Task Scheduler Service is not running....". Any clues as to how to
activate?
