task scheduler not working

When using the task scheduler I get the following message
The new task has been created but may not run because the account information could not be set. The specific error is 0x80041315: The task scheduler service is not running

How can I fix this? It is causing my virus update to not work

I'm afraid you're probably out of luck, and will have to run things like
virus updates manually.

I and others have had this problem for months, and nothing seems to fix it.
I spent hours on the phone with Microsoft with no results. Kelly's Tweaks
and other sites with useful fixes didn't help either.

I'm beginning to suspect its something to do with a particular hardware or
firmware configuration - e.g., I have this problem on an old Dell P3 I
upgraded to WinXP HE. Task scheduler used to work well under Win ME (about
the only good thing I can say about WinME!!!) but will not work now. I
suspect its something in the old BIOS or board configuration, but that's
only a guess.

Hi, I was having the same problem, but mine was quiet easy to fix.
Below are the steps I took to correct the problem.

1. Right click my computer
2. manage
3. services and applications
4. services
5. double click task manager
6. in General tab -- make sure set to automatic
in Log On tab -- check "local system account" and "allow service t
interact with desktop"
7. apply
8. back in General tab -- click start

that worked for me, maybe it will work for you. :)
