Scheduled tasks not working

B

Brrnese

I have a client who had a machine infected mainly with
spyware. He had let his norton expire, upgraded about a
month later and was unable to do a live update to update
hte virus definitions. I have the system cleaned now,
live update works, the spyware and adware have been
removed but I cannot turn Automatic Live Update on for
the Norton Antivirus 2004.

This apparently relates to the task scheduler which shows
it is started.

I have gotten error 0x80041315 task schedule service not
running and error 1720 the endpoint cannot be created.
In searching MS I found that the task scheduler depends
on RPC - but this is also running.

I have not tried uninstalling and reinstalling Norton -
however if the underlying problem is the task schedule
service then I assume that would not solve the problem.

Any help will be appreciated.

A "clean install" is your best choice at this point:
